How To Install xfce4-dict on Debian 11

What is xfce4-dict
xfce4-dict is:
This program allows you to search different kinds of dictionary services for words or phrases and shows you the result. Currently you can query a Dict server (RFC 2229), any online dictionary service by opening a web browser or search for words using the aspell/ispell program.
xfce4-dict contains a stand-alone application called ??xfce4-dict?? and a panel plugin for the Xfce panel.
There are three methods to install xfce4-dict
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xfce4-dict Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xfce4-dict
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xfce4-dict

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xfce4-dict
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xfce4-dict
Install xfce4-dict Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xfce4-dict
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xfce4-dict
How To Uninstall xfce4-dict on Debian 11
To uninstall only the xfce4-dict
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xfce4-dict
Uninstall xfce4-dict And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xfce4-dict
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xfce4-dict
Remove xfce4-dict Configurations and Data
To remove xfce4-dict
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xfce4-dict
Remove xfce4-dict configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xfce4-dict
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xfce4-dict
