How To Install xclip on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xclip on Kali Linux.
What is xclip
xclip is:
xclip is a command line utility that is designed to run on any system with an X11 implementation. It provides an interface to X selections (“the clipboard”) from the command line. It can read data from standard in or a file and place it in an X selection for pasting into other X applications. xclip can also print an X selection to standard out, which can then be redirected to a file or another program.
There are three methods to install xclip on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xclip Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xclip using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xclipInstall xclip Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xclip using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xclipInstall xclip Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xclip using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xclipHow To Uninstall xclip on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xclip package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xclipUninstall xclip And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xclip and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xclipRemove xclip Configurations and Data
To remove xclip configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xclipRemove xclip configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xclip configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xclipDependencies
