What is xboxdrv
xboxdrv is:
This is a Xbox/Xbox360 gamepad driver for Linux that works in userspace. It is an alternative to the xpad kernel driver and has support for Xbox1 gamepads, Xbox360 USB gamepads and Xbox360 wireless gamepads. The Xbox360 guitar and some Xbox1 dancemats might work too. The Xbox 360 racing wheel is not supported, but shouldn’t be to hard to add if somebody is interested.
This driver is only of interest if the xpad kernel driver doesn’t work for you or if you want more configurabity. If the xpad kernel driver works for you there is no need to try this driver.
In addition to all the Xbox related stuff, the driver also supports the Thrustmaster Dual Power 3 gamepad, including rumble, which isn’t supported by the normal kernel driver.
There are three methods to install xboxdrv on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xboxdrv Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install xboxdrv using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xboxdrv

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install xboxdrv using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xboxdrv
Install xboxdrv Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install xboxdrv using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xboxdrv
How To Uninstall xboxdrv on Debian 9
To uninstall only the xboxdrv package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xboxdrv
Uninstall xboxdrv And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xboxdrv and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xboxdrv
Remove xboxdrv Configurations and Data
To remove xboxdrv configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xboxdrv
