How To Install xautomation on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install xautomation on Kali Linux.
What is xautomation
xautomation is:
Control X from the command line for scripts, and do “visual scraping” to find things on the screen. The control interface allows mouse movement, clicking, button up/down, key up/down, etc, using the XTest extension. The visgrep program find images inside of images and reports the coordinates, allowing programs to find buttons, etc, on the screen to click on.
If you just want to control X, you may find xdotool easier to use.
There are three methods to install xautomation on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install xautomation Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xautomation using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install xautomationInstall xautomation Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xautomation using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install xautomationInstall xautomation Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install xautomation using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install xautomationHow To Uninstall xautomation on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the xautomation package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove xautomationUninstall xautomation And Its Dependencies
To uninstall xautomation and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove xautomationRemove xautomation Configurations and Data
To remove xautomation configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge xautomationRemove xautomation configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove xautomation configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge xautomationDependencies
