What is x3270-text
The c3270 program opens a 3270 terminal which emulates the actual look of an IBM 3278/3279 terminal, commonly used with mainframe applications. x3270 also allows you to telnet to an IBM host from the x3270 window. Install the x3270-text package if you need to access IBM hosts using an IBM 3278/3279 terminal emulator without running X.
We can use yum or dnf to install x3270-text on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install x3270-text.
Install x3270-text on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install x3270-text using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install x3270-text
Install x3270-text on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install x3270-text using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install x3270-text
How To Uninstall x3270-text on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the x3270-text package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove x3270-text
