How To Install x3270 on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install x3270 on AlmaLinux 8.
What is x3270
The x3270 package contains files needed for emulating the IBM 3278/3279 terminals, commonly used with mainframe applications. You will also need to install a frontend for x3270. Available frontends are x3270-x11 (for the X Window System) and x3270-text (for text mode).
We can use yum or dnf to install x3270 on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install x3270.
Install x3270 on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install x3270 using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install x3270
Install x3270 on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install x3270 using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install x3270
How To Uninstall x3270 on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the x3270 package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove x3270
