How To Install x11-utils on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is x11-utils
x11-utils is:
An X client is a program that interfaces with an X server (almost always via the X libraries), and thus with some input and output hardware like a graphics card, monitor, keyboard, and pointing device (such as a mouse).
This package provides a miscellaneous assortment of X utilities that ship with the X Window System, including:
- appres, editres, listres and viewres, which query the X resource database;
- luit, a filter that can be run between an arbitrary application and a UTF-8 terminal emulator;
- xdpyinfo, a display information utility for X;
- xdriinfo, query configuration information of DRI drivers;
- xev, an X event displayer;
- xfd, a tool that displays all the glyphs in a given X font;
- xfontsel, a tool for browsing and selecting X fonts;
- xkill, a tool for terminating misbehaving X clients;
- xlsatoms, which lists interned atoms defined on an X server;
- xlsclients, which lists client applications running on an X display;
- xlsfonts, a server font list displayer;
- xmessage, a tool to display message or dialog boxes;
- xprop, a property displayer for X;
- xvinfo, an Xv extension information utility for X;
- xwininfo, a window information utility for X;
The editres and viewres programs use bitmap images provided by the xbitmaps package. The luit program requires locale information from the libx11-data package.
There are three methods to install x11-utils
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install x11-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install x11-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install x11-utils

After updating apt database, We can install x11-utils

Install x11-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install x11-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install x11-utils
How To Uninstall x11-utils on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the x11-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove x11-utils
Uninstall x11-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall x11-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove x11-utils
Remove x11-utils Configurations and Data
To remove x11-utils
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge x11-utils
Remove x11-utils configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove x11-utils
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge x11-utils
