How To Install wxedid on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wxedid on Kali Linux.
What is wxedid
wxedid is:
wxEDID is a wxWidgets based editor for Extended Display Identification Data (EDID).
It operates on offline files that can be flashed to a monitor using the technique described here: https://wiki.debian.org/RepairEDID.
This tool can modify the base EDID v1.3+ structure and the CEA/CTA-861-G, as the first extension block. The program also provides a DTD constructor to aid with the selection of suitable timings.
The tool can import and export EDID data in binary blob and in hexadecimal formats.
There are three methods to install wxedid on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wxedid Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install wxedid using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wxedidInstall wxedid Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install wxedid using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install wxedid using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wxedidHow To Uninstall wxedid on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the wxedid package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wxedidUninstall wxedid And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wxedid and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wxedidRemove wxedid Configurations and Data
To remove wxedid configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wxedidRemove wxedid configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove wxedid configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wxedidDependencies
