What is wpasupplicant
wpasupplicant is:
wpa-supplicant is a userspace daemon handling connection and authentication in wireless and wired networks, primarily secured with the WPA/WPA2/WPA3 protocols. This software provides key negotiation with the access point (WPA Authenticator), and controls association with IEEE 802.11i networks.
There are three methods to install wpasupplicant
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wpasupplicant Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wpasupplicant
using apt-get
by running the following command:

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install wpasupplicant

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wpasupplicant
using aptitude

How To Uninstall wpasupplicant on Debian 11
To uninstall only the wpasupplicant
