What is wmweather

wmweather is:

wmweather provides a monitor on a 64x64 mini window that displays the current weather. The weather reports are received from NOAA’s National Weather Service at http://www.nws.noaa.gov/, that is the same source that pilots use.

wmweather is designed to work with the WindowMaker dock, but will work with other window managers as well. xbase-clients are required for the left click to bring up the complete METAR record.

There are three methods to install wmweather on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install wmweather Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install wmweather using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install wmweather

Install wmweather Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install wmweather using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install wmweather

Install wmweather Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install wmweather using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install wmweather

How To Uninstall wmweather on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the wmweather package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove wmweather

Uninstall wmweather And Its Dependencies

To uninstall wmweather and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove wmweather

Remove wmweather Configurations and Data

To remove wmweather configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge wmweather
