How To Install wmix on Debian 10
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wmix on Debian 10.
What is wmix
wmix is:
Allows toggling record source, muting individual channels, adjusting volume and balance, all in a compact dockapp size, with TV-like on-screen-display for volume levels.
Supports mousewheel to adjust current channelvolume and can be controlled remotely with SIGUSR1 / SIGUSR2 to adjust the volume. Keeps a simple configuration file for user-defined settings.
There are three methods to install wmix on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wmix Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wmix using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wmix
Install wmix Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wmix using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wmix
Install wmix Using aptitude

How To Uninstall wmix on Debian 10
To uninstall only the wmix package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wmix

To uninstall wmix and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wmix
Remove wmix Configurations and Data
To remove wmix configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wmix
