How To Install wmbattery on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wmbattery on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is wmbattery
wmbattery is:
wmbattery displays the status of your laptop’s battery in a small icon. This includes if it is plugged in, if the battery is charging, how many minutes of battery life remain, and battery status (high - green, low - yellow, or critical - red).
There’s nothing in the program that makes it require WindowMaker, except maybe the look. It can be docked in WindowMaker or AfterStep’s dock.
wmbattery supports multi-battery machines, and can estimate how long it will take the battery to finish charging or discharging.
There are three methods to install wmbattery on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wmbattery Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wmbattery using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wmbattery
Install wmbattery Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wmbattery using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wmbattery
Install wmbattery Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wmbattery using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wmbattery
How To Uninstall wmbattery on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the wmbattery package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wmbattery
Uninstall wmbattery And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wmbattery and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wmbattery
Remove wmbattery Configurations and Data
To remove wmbattery configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wmbattery
Remove wmbattery configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove wmbattery configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wmbattery
