How To Install winff-gtk2 on Debian 9

What is winff-gtk2
winff-gtk2 is:
WinFF is a graphical user interface for FFmpeg. It will convert almost any video file that FFmpeg will convert. WinFF does multiple files in multiple formats at one time. You can, for example, convert mpeg’s, flv’s, and mov’s into avi’s (or DVD/VCD format or MPEG or 3gp etc.) all at once.
Users usually want to install the winff package and let their package manager decide which winff variant to use. If you want to override the packager’s choice, you can additionally select the required variant. This package provides the GTK+ variant of winff.
There are three methods to install winff-gtk2
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install winff-gtk2 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install winff-gtk2
using apt-get

Update apt database with apt

After updating apt database, We can install winff-gtk2

Install winff-gtk2 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install winff-gtk2
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install winff-gtk2
How To Uninstall winff-gtk2 on Debian 9
To uninstall only the winff-gtk2
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove winff-gtk2
Uninstall winff-gtk2 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall winff-gtk2
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove winff-gtk2
Remove winff-gtk2 Configurations and Data
To remove winff-gtk2
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge winff-gtk2
