How To Install winbind on Debian 10

What is winbind
winbind is:
Samba is an implementation of the SMB/CIFS protocol for Unix systems, providing support for cross-platform file sharing with Microsoft Windows, OS X, and other Unix systems. Samba can also function as a domain controller or member server in both NT4-style and Active Directory domains.
This package provides winbindd, a daemon which integrates authentication and directory service (user/group lookup) mechanisms from a Windows domain on a Linux system.
Winbind based user/group lookups via /etc/nsswitch.conf can be enabled via the libnss-winbind package. Winbind based Windows domain authentication can be enabled via the libpam-winbind package.
There are three methods to install winbind on Debian 10. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install winbind Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install winbind using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install winbind
Install winbind Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install winbind using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install winbind
Install winbind Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install winbind using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install winbind
How To Uninstall winbind on Debian 10
To uninstall only the winbind package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove winbind

To uninstall winbind and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 10, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove winbind
Remove winbind Configurations and Data
To remove winbind configuration and data from Debian 10 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge winbind
