How To Install weechat-core on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install weechat-core on Kali Linux.
What is weechat-core
weechat-core is:
WeeChat (Wee Enhanced Environment for Chat) is a fast and light chat client for many operating systems. Everything can be done with a keyboard.
This package provides core plugins and locales files for WeeChat. It currently ships the following plugins: alias, buflist, charset, fset, irc, logger and xfer. It is useless without weechat-curses or weechat-headless.
There are three methods to install weechat-core on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install weechat-core Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install weechat-core using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install weechat-coreInstall weechat-core Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install weechat-core using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install weechat-coreInstall weechat-core Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install weechat-core using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install weechat-coreHow To Uninstall weechat-core on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the weechat-core package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove weechat-coreUninstall weechat-core And Its Dependencies
To uninstall weechat-core and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove weechat-coreRemove weechat-core Configurations and Data
To remove weechat-core configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge weechat-coreRemove weechat-core configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove weechat-core configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge weechat-coreDependencies
