How To Install webcamd on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install webcamd
on Kali Linux.
What is webcamd
webcamd is:
webcamd take images from your webcam and put it in your local web directory or upload it by FTP.
What it does:
- Take pics every X seconds.
- Add date & hour on pictures, with or without a border.
- Make HTML page for it.
- Stop camera, putting an offline webpage.
- To take pics when you want if the daemon is running.
- Upload pics by ftp on a remote server or create local file if a local web server is running.
- Customise HTML templates easily.
You can configure the program easily with a small and simple configuration file.
There are three methods to install webcamd
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install webcamd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install webcamd
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install webcamd
Install webcamd Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install webcamd
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install webcamd
Install webcamd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install webcamd
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install webcamd
How To Uninstall webcamd on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the webcamd
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove webcamd
Uninstall webcamd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall webcamd
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove webcamd
Remove webcamd Configurations and Data
To remove webcamd
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge webcamd
