How To Install wce on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install wce on Kali Linux.
What is wce
wce is:
Windows Credentials Editor (WCE) v1.3beta allows you to:
NTLM authentication:
- List logon sessions and add, change, list and delete associated credentials (e.g.: LM/NT hashes)
- Perform pass-the-hash on Windows natively
- Obtain NT/LM hashes from memory (from interactive logons, services, remote desktop connections, etc.) which can be used to authenticate to other systems. WCE can perform this task without injecting code, just by reading and decrypting information stored in Windows internal memory structures. It also has the capability to automatically switch to code injection when the aforementioned method cannot be performed.
There are three methods to install wce on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wce Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install wce using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wceInstall wce Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install wce using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wceInstall wce Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install wce using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install wceHow To Uninstall wce on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the wce package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wceUninstall wce And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wce and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wceRemove wce Configurations and Data
To remove wce configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wceRemove wce configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove wce configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge wceDependencies
