How To Install wcd on Kali Linux

on Kali Linux.
What is wcd
wcd is:
Wcd (Wherever Change Directory) is a program to quickly change directories. It saves time typing at the keyboard. One needs to type only a part of a directory name and wcd will jump to it. By default, wcd searches for a directory with a name that begins with what has been typed, but the use of wildcards is also fully supported.
There are three methods to install wcd
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install wcd Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install wcd
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install wcd

Update apt database with apt

sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install wcd
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install wcd
Install wcd Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install wcd
using aptitude

How To Uninstall wcd on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the wcd
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove wcd
Uninstall wcd And Its Dependencies
To uninstall wcd
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove wcd
Remove wcd Configurations and Data
To remove wcd
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge wcd
