How To Install vrms on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install vrms on Kali Linux.
What is vrms
vrms is:
The vrms program will analyze the set of currently-installed packages on a Debian-based system, and report all of the packages from the non-free and contrib trees which are currently installed.
In some cases, the opinions of Richard M. Stallman and the Debian project have diverged since this program was originally written. In such cases, this program follows the Debian Free Software Guidelines.
Note that vrms is not limited to Debian systems only (which means that it also works with Debian-derived distributions such as Ubuntu). It is also not limited to Linux-based systems.
There are three methods to install vrms on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install vrms Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install vrms using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install vrmsInstall vrms Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install vrms using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install vrmsHow To Uninstall vrms on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the vrms package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vrmsUninstall vrms And Its Dependencies
To uninstall vrms and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove vrmsRemove vrms Configurations and Data
To remove vrms configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge vrmsRemove vrms configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove vrms configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge vrmsDependencies
