What is vmpk

vmpk is:

Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard is a MIDI events generator and receiver. It doesn’t produce any sound by itself, but can be used to drive a MIDI synthesizer (either hardware or software, internal or external). You can use the computer’s keyboard to play MIDI notes, and also the mouse. You can use the Virtual MIDI Piano Keyboard to display the played MIDI notes from another instrument or MIDI file player.

There are three methods to install vmpk on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install vmpk Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install vmpk using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install vmpk

Install vmpk Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install vmpk using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install vmpk

Install vmpk Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install vmpk using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install vmpk

How To Uninstall vmpk on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the vmpk package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove vmpk

Uninstall vmpk And Its Dependencies

To uninstall vmpk and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove vmpk

Remove vmpk Configurations and Data

To remove vmpk configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge vmpk
