What is vlogger

vlogger is:

Vlogger is a little piece of code borned to handle dealing with large amounts of virtualhost logs. It’s bad news that apache can’t do this on its own. Vlogger takes piped input from apache, splits it off to separate files based on the first field. It uses a file handle cache so it can’t run out of file descriptors. It will also start a new logfile every night at midnight, and maintain a symlink to the most recent file. For security, it can drop privileges and do a chroot to the logs directory.

There are three methods to install vlogger on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install vlogger Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install vlogger using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install vlogger

Install vlogger Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install vlogger using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install vlogger

Install vlogger Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install vlogger using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install vlogger

How To Uninstall vlogger on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the vlogger package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove vlogger

Uninstall vlogger And Its Dependencies

To uninstall vlogger and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove vlogger

Remove vlogger Configurations and Data

To remove vlogger configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge vlogger
