How To Install vlock on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install vlock on Kali Linux.
What is vlock
vlock is:
vlock either locks the current terminal (which may be any kind of terminal, local or remote), or locks the entire virtual console system, completely disabling all console access. vlock gives up these locks when either the password of the user who started vlock or the root password is typed.
vlock is interesting on multi user system environments. vlock allows users to lock their sessions while other users can still use the same system via other virtual terminal.
vlock is very useful for users security.
There are three methods to install vlock on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install vlock Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install vlock using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install vlockInstall vlock Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install vlock using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install vlockInstall vlock Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install vlock using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install vlockHow To Uninstall vlock on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the vlock package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vlockUninstall vlock And Its Dependencies
To uninstall vlock and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove vlockRemove vlock Configurations and Data
To remove vlock configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge vlockRemove vlock configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
