VLC can also be used as a streaming server that duplicates the stream it reads and multicasts them through the network to other clients, or serves them through HTTP.

VLC has support for on-the-fly transcoding of audio and video formats, either for broadcasting purposes or for movie format transformations. Support for most output methods is provided by this package, but features can be added by installing additional plugins:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install vlc using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install vlc

How To Uninstall vlc on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the vlc package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove vlc

Uninstall vlc And Its Dependencies

To uninstall vlc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove vlc

Remove vlc Configurations and Data

To remove vlc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge vlc

Remove vlc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove vlc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge vlc
