How To Install vitables on Ubuntu 18.04

What is vitables
vitables is:
ViTables is a component of the PyTables family. It is a graphical tool for browsing and editing files in both PyTables and HDF5 formats.
ViTables capabilities include easy navigation through the data hierarchy, displaying of real data and its associated metadata, a simple, yet powerful, browsing of multidimensional data and much more.
One of the greatest strengths of ViTables is its ability to display very large tables. Tables with one thousand millions of rows (and beyond) are navigated stunningly fast and with very low memory requirements. So, if you ever need to browse very large tables, don’t hesitate, ViTables is your choice.
There are three methods to install vitables on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install vitables Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install vitables using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install vitables
Install vitables Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install vitables using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install vitables
Install vitables Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install vitables using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install vitables
How To Uninstall vitables on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the vitables package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vitables
Uninstall vitables And Its Dependencies
To uninstall vitables and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove vitables
Remove vitables Configurations and Data
To remove vitables configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge vitables
Remove vitables configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove vitables configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge vitables
