How To Install virtuoso-minimal on Ubuntu 18.04

What is virtuoso-minimal
virtuoso-minimal is:
OpenLink Virtuoso is a high-performance object-relational SQL database. It provides transactions, a smart SQL compiler, hot backup, SQL:1999 support, a powerful stored-procedure language supporting server-side Java or .NET, and more. It supports all major data-access interfaces, including ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET, and OLE/DB.
This is an empty package depending on the current “best” version of the core Virtuoso binaries, as recommended by the maintainers (currently virtuoso-opensource-6.1-bin). This should usually be depended on by all packages which use Virtuoso as an embedded database.
There are three methods to install virtuoso-minimal on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install virtuoso-minimal Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install virtuoso-minimal using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install virtuoso-minimal
Install virtuoso-minimal Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install virtuoso-minimal using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install virtuoso-minimal
Install virtuoso-minimal Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install virtuoso-minimal using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install virtuoso-minimal
How To Uninstall virtuoso-minimal on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the virtuoso-minimal package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove virtuoso-minimal
Uninstall virtuoso-minimal And Its Dependencies
To uninstall virtuoso-minimal and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove virtuoso-minimal
Remove virtuoso-minimal Configurations and Data
To remove virtuoso-minimal configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge virtuoso-minimal
Remove virtuoso-minimal configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove virtuoso-minimal configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge virtuoso-minimal
