What is virt-sandbox

virt-sandbox is:

The Libvirt Sandbox project is an effort to facilitate the use of libvirt virtualization drivers for the purpose of sandboxing applications. It supports LXC and QEMU/KVM.

It provides a high level API to enable the construction of sandboxes and isolation from the need to understand the virtualization technology configuration.

It allows integration with systemd to setup service unit files inside a sandbox.

This package contains the binaries to run sandboxed applications and services.

There are three methods to install virt-sandbox on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install virt-sandbox Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install virt-sandbox using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install virt-sandbox

Install virt-sandbox Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install virt-sandbox using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install virt-sandbox

Install virt-sandbox Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install virt-sandbox using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install virt-sandbox

How To Uninstall virt-sandbox on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the virt-sandbox package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove virt-sandbox

Uninstall virt-sandbox And Its Dependencies

To uninstall virt-sandbox and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove virt-sandbox

Remove virt-sandbox Configurations and Data

To remove virt-sandbox configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge virt-sandbox

Remove virt-sandbox configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove virt-sandbox configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge virt-sandbox
