How To Install virt-backup on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install virt-backup
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is virt-backup
This script allows you to backup Virtual Machines managed by libvirt. It has only be tested with KVM based VM This script will dump (or mount as a set of chunks) * each block devices * optionnally the memory (if –state flag is given) * the XML description of the VM
We can use yum
or dnf
to install virt-backup
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install virt-backup.
Install virt-backup on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install virt-backup
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install virt-backup
Install virt-backup on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install virt-backup
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install virt-backup
How To Uninstall virt-backup on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the virt-backup
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove virt-backup
