How To Install vim-haproxy on Debian 9

What is vim-haproxy
vim-haproxy is:
The vim-haproxy package provides filetype detection and syntax highlighting for HAProxy configuration files.
As per the Debian vim policy, installed addons are not activated automatically, but the “vim-addon-manager” tool can be used for this purpose.
There are three methods to install vim-haproxy
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install vim-haproxy Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install vim-haproxy
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install vim-haproxy

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install vim-haproxy
using apt

sudo apt -y install vim-haproxy
Install vim-haproxy Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install vim-haproxy
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install vim-haproxy
How To Uninstall vim-haproxy on Debian 9
To uninstall only the vim-haproxy
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove vim-haproxy
Uninstall vim-haproxy And Its Dependencies
To uninstall vim-haproxy
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove vim-haproxy
Remove vim-haproxy Configurations and Data
To remove vim-haproxy
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge vim-haproxy
