In this tutorial we learn how to install vim-go on CentOS 7.

What is vim-go

Go (golang) support for Vim. It comes with predefined sensible settings (like auto gofmt on save), has auto-complete, snippet support, improved syntax highlighting, go tool-chain commands, etc… If needed vim-go installs all necessary binaries for providing seamless Vim integration with current commands. It’s highly customizable and each individual feature can be disabled/enabled easily.

We can use yum or dnf to install vim-go on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install vim-go.

Install vim-go on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install vim-go using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install vim-go

Install vim-go on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install vim-go using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install vim-go

How To Uninstall vim-go on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the vim-go package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove vim-go
