If you are installing vim-enhanced or vim-X11, you’ll also need to install the vim-common package.

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install vim-common using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install vim-common

Install vim-common on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install vim-common using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install vim-common

How To Uninstall vim-common on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the vim-common package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove vim-common
