Video Disk Recorder (VDR) is a digital sat-receiver program using Linux and DVB technologies. It allows one to record MPEG2 streams, as well as output the stream to TV. It is also possible to watch DVDs (hardware accelerated) with some comfort and use an IR remote control.

This package contains the header files of VDR. You need this package to be able to build vdr-plugins!

There are three methods to install vdr-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install vdr-dev Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install vdr-dev using aptitude by running the following command:

How To Uninstall vdr-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the vdr-dev package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove vdr-dev

To uninstall vdr-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove vdr-dev

Remove vdr-dev Configurations and Data

To remove vdr-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge vdr-dev

Remove vdr-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove vdr-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge vdr-dev
