How To Install vcftools on AlmaLinux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install vcftools on AlmaLinux 8.
What is vcftools
A program package designed for working with VCF files, such as those generated by the 1000 Genomes Project. The aim of VCFtools is to provide methods for working with VCF files comparing and calculate some basic population genetic statistics.
We can use yum or dnf to install vcftools on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install vcftools.
Install vcftools on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install vcftools using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install vcftools
Install vcftools on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install vcftools using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install vcftools
How To Uninstall vcftools on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the vcftools package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove vcftools
