What is vala-devel
Vala is a new programming language that aims to bring modern programming language features to GNOME developers without imposing any additional runtime requirements and without using a different ABI compared to applications and libraries written in C. This package contains development files for vala. This is not necessary for using the vala compiler.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install vala-devel
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install vala-devel.
Install vala-devel on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install vala-devel
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install vala-devel
Install vala-devel on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install vala-devel
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install vala-devel
How To Uninstall vala-devel on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the vala-devel
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove vala-devel
