How To Install uvccapture on Ubuntu 18.04

What is uvccapture
uvccapture is:
The purpose of this software is to capture an image from a USB webcam at a specified interval, and save it to a JPEG file, no other formats are supported.
Right now this software is really a hack, since still image support is not yet available in the UVC driver. The program continually polls the UVC driver in MJPEG mode, and at a specified interval writes a JPEG header and a single frame to file, creating a JPEG image.
There are three methods to install uvccapture on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uvccapture Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uvccapture using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uvccapture
Install uvccapture Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uvccapture using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uvccapture
Install uvccapture Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uvccapture using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uvccapture
How To Uninstall uvccapture on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the uvccapture package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uvccapture
Uninstall uvccapture And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uvccapture and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uvccapture
Remove uvccapture Configurations and Data
To remove uvccapture configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uvccapture
Remove uvccapture configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove uvccapture configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge uvccapture
