How To Install uuid-runtime on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install uuid-runtime on Kali Linux.
What is uuid-runtime
uuid-runtime is:
The libuuid library generates and parses 128-bit Universally Unique IDs (UUIDs). A UUID is an identifier that is unique within the space of all such identifiers across both space and time. It can be used for multiple purposes, from tagging objects with an extremely short lifetime to reliably identifying very persistent objects across a network.
See RFC 4122 for more information.
This package contains the uuidgen program and the uuidd daemon.
The uuidd daemon is used to generate UUIDs, especially time-based UUIDs, in a secure and guaranteed-unique fashion, even in the face of large numbers of threads trying to grab UUIDs running on different CPUs. It is used by libuuid as well as the uuidgen program.
There are three methods to install uuid-runtime on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uuid-runtime Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install uuid-runtime using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uuid-runtimeInstall uuid-runtime Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install uuid-runtime using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uuid-runtimeInstall uuid-runtime Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install uuid-runtime using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uuid-runtimeHow To Uninstall uuid-runtime on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the uuid-runtime package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uuid-runtimeUninstall uuid-runtime And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uuid-runtime and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
