In this tutorial we learn how to install unrealircd on CentOS 7.

What is unrealircd

UnrealIRCd is an Open Source IRC server based on the branch of IRCu called Dreamforge, formerly used by the DALnet IRC network. Since the beginning of development on UnrealIRCd in May of 1999, it has become a highly advanced IRCd with a strong focus on modularity, an advanced and highly configurable configuration file. Key features include SSL/TLS, cloaking, advanced anti- flood and anti-spam systems, swear filtering and module support.

We can use yum or dnf to install unrealircd on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install unrealircd.

Install unrealircd on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install unrealircd using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install unrealircd

Install unrealircd on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install unrealircd using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install unrealircd

How To Uninstall unrealircd on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the unrealircd package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove unrealircd
