What is unoconv

Universal Office Converter (unoconv) is a command line tool to convert any document format that LibreOffice can import to any document format that LibreOffice can export. It makes use of the LibreOffice’s UNO bindings for non-interactive conversion of documents. Supported document formats include Open Document Format (.odg, .odp, .ods, .odt), MS Word (.doc), MS Office Open/MS OOXML (.docx, .pptx, .xlsx), PDF, HTML, RTF, and many more.

We can use yum or dnf to install unoconv on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install unoconv.

Install unoconv on CentOS 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install unoconv using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install unoconv

Install unoconv on CentOS 8 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install unoconv using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install unoconv

How To Uninstall unoconv on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the unoconv package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove unoconv
