How To Install uim-utils on Debian 9

What is uim-utils
uim-utils is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, PRIME, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package contains a shell interpreter, IPC server, etc.
There are three methods to install uim-utils
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uim-utils Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-utils
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uim-utils

After updating apt database, We can install uim-utils

Install uim-utils Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-utils
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uim-utils
How To Uninstall uim-utils on Debian 9
To uninstall only the uim-utils
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uim-utils
Uninstall uim-utils And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uim-utils
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim-utils
Remove uim-utils Configurations and Data
To remove uim-utils
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uim-utils
