How To Install uim on Ubuntu 18.04

What is uim
uim is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package is a package designed to install the basic uim infrastructure.
There are three methods to install uim on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uim Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uim using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uim
Install uim Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uim using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uim
Install uim Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uim using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uim
How To Uninstall uim on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the uim package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uim
Uninstall uim And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uim and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim
Remove uim Configurations and Data
To remove uim configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uim
Remove uim configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove uim configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge uim
