How To Install uim-skk on Ubuntu 22.04

What is uim-skk
uim-skk is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package contains a plugin for uim to support the use of the Japanese input method SKK.
There are three methods to install uim-skk
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uim-skk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-skk
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uim-skk
Install uim-skk Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-skk
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uim-skk
Install uim-skk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-skk
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uim-skk
How To Uninstall uim-skk on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the uim-skk
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uim-skk
Uninstall uim-skk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uim-skk
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim-skk
Remove uim-skk Configurations and Data
To remove uim-skk
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uim-skk
Remove uim-skk configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove uim-skk
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge uim-skk
