How To Install uim-qt5 on Debian 9

What is uim-qt5
uim-qt5 is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, PRIME, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package contains some graphical utilities (but not a full IM-module) using Qt 5.x.
There are three methods to install uim-qt5
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uim-qt5 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-qt5
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uim-qt5

After updating apt database, We can install uim-qt5

Install uim-qt5 Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-qt5
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uim-qt5
How To Uninstall uim-qt5 on Debian 9
To uninstall only the uim-qt5
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uim-qt5
Uninstall uim-qt5 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uim-qt5
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim-qt5
Remove uim-qt5 Configurations and Data
To remove uim-qt5
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge uim-qt5
