What is uim-pinyin

uim-pinyin is:

Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.

This package provides uim support for the (Traditional and Simplified) Chinese input methods py, pyunihan, and pinyin-big5.

There are three methods to install uim-pinyin on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install uim-pinyin Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install uim-pinyin using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install uim-pinyin

Install uim-pinyin Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install uim-pinyin using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install uim-pinyin

Install uim-pinyin Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install uim-pinyin using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install uim-pinyin
