How To Install uim-dict-gtk on Debian 9

What is uim-dict-gtk
uim-dict-gtk is:
Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, PRIME, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.
This package contains a GTK+2.x Japanese dictionary tool of uim.
There are three methods to install uim-dict-gtk
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install uim-dict-gtk Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-dict-gtk
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install uim-dict-gtk
Install uim-dict-gtk Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-dict-gtk
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install uim-dict-gtk
Install uim-dict-gtk Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install uim-dict-gtk
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install uim-dict-gtk
How To Uninstall uim-dict-gtk on Debian 9
To uninstall only the uim-dict-gtk
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove uim-dict-gtk
Uninstall uim-dict-gtk And Its Dependencies
To uninstall uim-dict-gtk
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim-dict-gtk
