How To Install uim-data on Kali Linux

Introduction

In this tutorial we learn how to install uim-data on Kali Linux.

What is uim-data

uim-data is:

Uim is an input method module library which supports various scripts and can act as a front end for a range of input methods, including Anthy, Canna, or SKK (for Japanese), Pinyin (for Chinese), Byeoru (for Korean), and M17n (for many other languages). Most of its functions are implemented in Scheme, so it’s very simple and flexible.

This package contains the data files for uim.

There are three methods to install uim-data on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install uim-data Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install uim-data using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install uim-data

Install uim-data Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install uim-data using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install uim-data

Install uim-data Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install uim-data using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install uim-data

How To Uninstall uim-data on Kali Linux

To uninstall only the uim-data package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove uim-data

To uninstall uim-data and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove uim-data

To remove uim-data configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge uim-data
