How To Install ucx on CentOS 7
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ucx
on CentOS 7.
What is ucx
UCX stands for Unified Communication X. UCX provides an optimized communication layer for Message Passing (MPI), PGAS/OpenSHMEM libraries and RPC/data-centric applications. UCX utilizes high-speed networks, such as RDMA (InfiniBand, RoCE, etc), Cray Gemini or Aries, for inter-node communication. If no such network is available, TCP is used instead. UCX supports efficient transfer of data in either main memory (RAM) or GPU memory (through CUDA and ROCm libraries). In addition, UCX provides efficient intra-node communication, by leveraging the following shared memory mechanisms
We can use yum
or dnf
to install ucx
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ucx.
Install ucx on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ucx
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install ucx
Install ucx on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install ucx
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install ucx
How To Uninstall ucx on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the ucx
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove ucx
