In this tutorial we learn how to install trove-conductor on Ubuntu 18.04.

What is trove-conductor

trove-conductor is:

Trove is Database as a Service for Openstack. It’s designed to run entirely on OpenStack, with the goal of allowing users to quickly and easily utilize the features of a relational database without the burden of handling complex administrative tasks. Cloud users and database administrators can provision and manage multiple database instances as needed. Initially, the service will focus on providing resource isolation at high performance while automating complex administrative tasks including deployment, configuration, patching, backups, restores, and monitoring. Trove is designed to support a single-tenant database within a Nova instance. There is no restrictions on how Nova is configured, since Trove interacts with other OpenStack components purely through the API.

This package provides the Trove conductor.

There are three methods to install trove-conductor on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install trove-conductor Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install trove-conductor using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install trove-conductor

Install trove-conductor Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install trove-conductor using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install trove-conductor

Install trove-conductor Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install trove-conductor using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install trove-conductor

How To Uninstall trove-conductor on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the trove-conductor package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove trove-conductor

Uninstall trove-conductor And Its Dependencies

To uninstall trove-conductor and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove trove-conductor

Remove trove-conductor Configurations and Data

To remove trove-conductor configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge trove-conductor

Remove trove-conductor configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove trove-conductor configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge trove-conductor
