What is trove-api

trove-api is:

Trove is Database as a Service for Openstack. It’s designed to run entirely on OpenStack, with the goal of allowing users to quickly and easily utilize the features of a relational database without the burden of handling complex administrative tasks. Cloud users and database administrators can provision and manage multiple database instances as needed. Initially, the service will focus on providing resource isolation at high performance while automating complex administrative tasks including deployment, configuration, patching, backups, restores, and monitoring. Trove is designed to support a single-tenant database within a Nova instance. There is no restrictions on how Nova is configured, since Trove interacts with other OpenStack components purely through the API.

This package provides the Trove API server. The trove-api service provides a RESTful API that supports JSON and XML to provision and manage Trove instances.

There are three methods to install trove-api on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install trove-api Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install trove-api using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install trove-api

Install trove-api Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install trove-api using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install trove-api

Install trove-api Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install trove-api using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install trove-api

How To Uninstall trove-api on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the trove-api package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove trove-api

Uninstall trove-api And Its Dependencies

To uninstall trove-api and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove trove-api

Remove trove-api Configurations and Data

To remove trove-api configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge trove-api

Remove trove-api configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove trove-api configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge trove-api
