In this tutorial we learn how to install transfig on CentOS 8.
What is transfig
The transfig utility creates a makefile which translates FIG (created by xfig) or PIC figures into a specified LaTeX graphics language (for example, PostScript(TM)). Transfig is used to create TeX documents which are portable (i.e., they can be printed in a wide variety of environments). Install transfig if you need a utility for translating FIG or PIC figures into certain graphics languages.
We can use yum or dnf to install transfig on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install transfig.
Install transfig on CentOS 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install transfig using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install transfig
Install transfig on CentOS 8 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install transfig using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install transfig
How To Uninstall transfig on CentOS 8
To uninstall only the transfig package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove transfig
