How To Install trac-datefield on Debian 9

In this tutorial we learn how to install trac-datefield
on Debian 9.
What is trac-datefield
trac-datefield is:
Provides a datepicker for ticket and milestone fields, and validation of the date string for ticket custom fields. It will only validate that the given input has the specified date format. The value is stored in the database as a string, as Trac does not yet have date field support
Note: It is not the intention of this plugin to provide date-type support.
There are three methods to install trac-datefield
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install trac-datefield Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install trac-datefield
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install trac-datefield

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install trac-datefield
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install trac-datefield
Install trac-datefield Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install trac-datefield
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install trac-datefield
How To Uninstall trac-datefield on Debian 9
To uninstall only the trac-datefield
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove trac-datefield
Uninstall trac-datefield And Its Dependencies
To uninstall trac-datefield
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove trac-datefield
Remove trac-datefield Configurations and Data
To remove trac-datefield
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge trac-datefield
