How To Install torsocks on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install torsocks on Kali Linux.
What is torsocks
torsocks is:
Torsocks allows you to redirect network traffic of individual SOCKS-friendly applications through the Tor network. It also ensures DNS queries are handled correctly and explicitly blocks all UDP traffic from the application in question. It is possible that a given application can leak user/system data at a level that neither Tor nor torsocks can control, a 100% guarantee of being safe to operate with Tor can not be given for applications.
There are three methods to install torsocks on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install torsocks Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install torsocks using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install torsocksInstall torsocks Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install torsocks using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install torsocksInstall torsocks Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install torsocks using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install torsocksHow To Uninstall torsocks on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the torsocks package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove torsocksUninstall torsocks And Its Dependencies
To uninstall torsocks and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove torsocksRemove torsocks Configurations and Data
To remove torsocks configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge torsocksRemove torsocks configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove torsocks configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge torsocksDependencies
